Tigers Could Start Managing Casey Mize's Workload In June
4 years agoDetroit Tigers starting pitcher Casey Mize has been settling in nicely lately. He has turned in three quality starts in a row, going exactly six innings in each of the three starts. On Thursday, Tigers manager A.J. Hinch told reporters that the team will probably start managing Mize's workload in early June. Hinch also added, "But I don't want our guys to think too much about that." It was certainly expected that the Tigers would be cautious with Mize's innings this year. He threw 109.1 innings in the Minors in 2019, then just 28.1 innings with the Tigers in the shortened 2020 season. Fantasy managers should continue to hold on to Mize for now. He could still have value in deep leagues and AL-only leagues when his workload decreases if he continues to pitch as well as he has lately.
