Thomas Harrington Making MLB Debut On Tuesday
9 hours agoThe Pittsburgh Pirates are promoting right-handed pitching prospect Thomas Harrington to the majors to make his MLB debut on Tuesday evening against the Tampa Bay Rays. Harrington was competing for a spot on the Opening Day roster but fell short. However, Harrington did not need to wait long before receiving the call to the big leagues. He is considered to be the 79th best prospect in baseball on MLB.com. In spring training, Harrington tallied seven punchouts and held a 5.59 ERA with a 1.14 WHIP across nine 2/3 innings. Last season, he opened the campaign at Double-A and eventually reached Triple-A. Across 68 1/3 innings with Double-A, Harrington posted a strong 2.24 ERA with a 1.00 WHIP. At Triple-A, the 23-year-old held a 3.33 ERA with a stellar 0.93 WHIP in 46 innings of work. Harrington is worth adding in all 12+ team formats as he could earn a permanent spot in the rotation if he has an impressive MLB debut.
