Teoscar Hernandez Scratched Sunday With Back Soreness
2 years agoSeattle Mariners outfielder Teoscar Hernandez (back) was scratched from Sunday's Spring Training game against the Kansas City Royals due to back soreness. Although manager Scott Servais noted that the injury is not of major concern, Hernandez could return to the lineup by Monday. The 30-year-old was one of the biggest offseason acquisitions for Seattle after shipping Erik Swanson and Adam Macko to Toronto in exchange for the blossoming outfielder. With the Blue Jays in 2022, Hernandez slashed .267/.316/.491 with 25 HRs and a .807 OPS. He also accumulated a .348 wOBA and a 129 wRC+. Although his strikeout numbers skyrocketed after he compiled a 28.3% mark, that is certainly a concern heading into 2023. Overall, Hernandez is an elite-class hitter, and the power he supplies most certainly offsets any red flags.
