Teoscar Hernandez Hitting Cleanup Again
4 years agoToronto Blue Jays outfielder Teoscar Hernandez is in the cleanup slot again for the second game of the season. Hernandez went 3-for-4 with a home run on Thursday. He drove in just one run against the Yankees' pitching staff in part because the No. 1-3 hitters went 0-for-14 with seven strikeouts. The 2020 season was a breakout year for Hernandez who produced a 143 wRC+ with 16 home runs in 50 games. Today's matchup is not a great one for the 28-year-old slugger if Yankees starter Corey Kluber is on his game. Hernandez does not hit breaking balls well and the veteran pitcher's breaking ball can be one of the best offerings in the game when it's on. Look for Hernandez is be aggressive early in the count.
