Tejay Antone Throws On Tuesday
1 year agoCincinnati Reds reliever Tejay Antone (forearm) threw a side session on Tuesday, according to MLB.com, and if there continues to be no issues, there's a chance he could return to the club on August 19. The right-hander has missed all of 2023 and 2022 as he's recovering from Tommy John surgery and a flexor strain in his right forearm. Over 33 2/3 innings in 2021, Antone pitched to a 2.14 ERA, 0.89 WHIP, and 32.8% strikeout rate with three saves and eight holds. The closing job is out of reach, as Alexis Diaz has flourished in that role, but if the 29-year-old can be as effective as in the past, there's a good chance the team will use him as a late-inning arm.
