Tejay Antone Needs Another Elbow Surgery
7 months agoCincinnati Reds manager David Bell said that reliever Tejay Antone (elbow) will have another elbow surgery this Friday after he tore the tendon off the bone while also suffering a partial ligament tear. Antone has already had Tommy John surgery twice in 2017 and 2021. The Reds officially placed him on the 15-day injured list on Monday and recalled right-hander Carson Spiers from Triple-A Louisville in a corresponding move. It's another tough blow for the 30-year-old right-hander and the Reds' bullpen. Because of setbacks from his last Tommy John surgery, Antone has only appeared in nine games for the Reds since 2021. He's not going to make it back in 2024 and probably won't be ready for the start of the 2025 season, either.
