Teddy Bridgewater Continues To Improve His Stock
6 years agoNew York Jets quarterback Teddy Bridgewater completed eight of 13 passes for 101 yards, one touchdown and one interception in Thursday's preseason road game against the Washington Redskins. Bridgewater was sharp at times, including on his 16-yard pass to the corner of the end zone to wide receiver Charone Peake early in the fourth quarter for the game's only TD. He played the entire second half and led the team to what was nearly the game-winning field goal inside the two-minute warning, too, before the defense blew it. Bridgewater moved the ball well, jelling nicely with running back George Atkinson, too. It appears to be a two-man race for the starting job between he and rookie Sam Darnold, unless the team finds a trade suitor for Bridgewater. With three games within an 11-day span to open the regular season, it's possible the veteran Bridgewater opens the season as the starter rather than throw the rookie straight into the fire. Head coach Todd Bowles continues to be tight-lipped on the important race.
