Taylor Widener Delivers Solid Rehab Outing
4 years agoArizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Taylor Widener (groin) pitched his first rehab game at Triple-A Reno on Tuesday and produced solid results. He pitched 4 2/3 innings and allowed three hits, one walk and two earned runs while striking out six. He threw 74 pitches and reportedly felt healthy after the outing. According to Diamondbacks assistant general manager Amiel Sawdaye, Widener could make his next start in the Majors. The Diamondbacks currently have Corbin Martin scheduled to pitch this coming Sunday and they are off on Monday. We should know soon if Widener will rejoin the rotation this weekend or if he'll make another rehab start first. Widener had a 2.82 ERA and 1.119 WHIP over four starts before the injury this year. He's worth monitoring in all deep leagues.
