3 years agoLos Angeles Angels outfielder Taylor Ward (hamstring) is absent from the starting lineup for Monday's game against the Tampa Bay Rays due to hamstring tightness. Jack Mayfield will be covering right field in the game and Brandon Marsh will be slotting in as the team's leadoff hitter. According to Angels beat reporter Rhett Bollinger, Ward stated that he thinks he will only need one day off with the ailment. Ward reportedly felt the tightness while rounding third base in the ninth inning of Sunday's game. The 28-year-old has been absolutely on fire at the plate so far this year. Through 22 games, he's slashing .364 .490/.675 with six home runs, 15 RBI and 20 runs scored. His 1.165 OPS leads the majors and he's second in the MLB in batting average behind Manny Machado.
