Taylor Rogers Removed From Closer Role
2 years agoSan Diego Padres left-handed reliever Taylor Rogers has been removed from the closer role, according to manager Bob Melvin. Rogers has been one of the worst relievers in baseball the last few months, after arguably being the best reliever in the league for the first couple of months. Since May 28, Rogers has compiled a 8.14 ERA and 1.57 WHIP while converting just 11 of 18 save opportunities. He also took the loss on five occasions. Rogers could regain the role eventually, and Melvin even said he preferred Rogers in that role, but for now the Padres will go by committee. In deeper leagues, names like Luis Garcia and Nick Martinez should be watched carefully as they should see some opportunities.
