Taylor Rogers Records Sixth Save
3 years agoMinnesota Twins relief pitcher Taylor Rogers notched his sixth save of the season in Saturday's 5-2 win over the Houston Astros. Rogers needed just nine pitches to shut the door on the Astros, striking out a pair of batters in the process. He generated four whiffs, all on his slider, which has been his best strikeout pitch by far this season. The strong performance lowered Rogers' season ERA to 3.04, to go along with a career-best 33.9 percent strikeout rate and a 2.79 expected ERA. The southpaw had a down performance against the New York Yankees on June 8 but has pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings since, striking out three batters. Rogers should remain in a ninth-inning tandem with Hansel Robles moving forward.
