Taylor Rogers Records First Save
2 years agoSan Francisco Giants reliever Taylor Rogers recorded his first save of the season in the Giants' 5-2 win over the Miami Marlins on Wednesday. Rogers inherited two runners in the 11th inning with one out and caught Jazz Chisholm looking on strikes, followed by a hit batsman and ground out to complete the save. The 32-year-old has been struggling since the beginning of the season despite a small sample size, but Wednesday's outing is a step in the right direction. In 4 2/3 innings of work, Rogers owns a horrid 13.50 ERA, 2.36 WHIP, with three strikeouts. The Colorado native hasn't had enough opportunities to make amends for his poor performance on the mound, but it's still early on the season and Rogers has plenty of time to find his groove. In 2022, the southpaw posted a 4.76 ERA (3.31 FIP), 1.181 WHIP, and a 30.7% strikeout rate across 64 1/3 innings.
