Taylor Rogers Earns Save For Twins
6 years agoMinnesota Twins reliever Taylor Rogers was called upon in the eighth inning to shut down the Cleveland Indians on Opening Day. Rogers came into the game with a runner on and two outs and retired all four batters he faced for the save. He struck out three of the hitters in a surprise move by manager Rocco Baldelli. Blake Parker and Trevor May appeared to be first in line for the team's save opportunities, but this may turn into a three-headed platoon for ninth-inning duties this season after all. Rogers was likely summoned due to the amount of lefties due up, but it's still an ugly and unpredictable situation in Minnesota. He should be placed on your watch list as a bare minimum as this situation needs some time to shape out.
