Taylor Rogers Blows Third Save Sunday
3 years agoMinnesota Twins relief pitcher Taylor Rogers failed to lock down the save in Sunday's victory over the Detroit Tigers. Rogers couldn't preserve the three-run lead in the ninth, surrendering a grand slam to blow the save. The lefty reliever had allowed just one run in his last 11 1/3 innings, so the implosion was somewhat surprising. Still, Rogers' 38.2 percent hard-hit rate can sometimes lead to such performances, despite his strong Statcast record overall. He should be a solid source of ratios and strikeouts in the second half, though he could potentially be a letdown for those looking for saves unless he is moved to a contending team in need of a closer.
