Taylor Hearn Will Start On Tuesday
4 years agoTexas Rangers pitcher Taylor Hearn will draw the start on the mound versus the Oakland Athletics on Tuesday. This is normally Jordan Lyles turn in the rotation, but he'll get some extra rest. Manager Chris Woodward has mentioned the possibility that Hearn becomes a full-time starter in the rotation. This is likely just a spot start for Hearn, so fantasy managers shouldn't get too excited. This season, Hearn is posting a 4.84 ERA with 40 strikeouts over 35.3 innings of work. He won't be a reliable streaming option for Tuesday's slate.

Taylor Hearn Expected To Make Opening Day Roster
2 years agoTexas Rangers relief pitcher Taylor Hearn is expected to make the team's Opening Day roster out of the bullpen after the Rangers sent John King to Triple-A Round Rock on Wednesday. The projected bullpen to enter the year consists of Jonathan Hernandez, closer Jose Leclerc, Will Smith, Brock Burke, Cole Ragans, Dane Dunning, Ian Kennedy and Hearn. The 28-year-old left-hander struggled this spring and had a 5.13 ERA (3.98 FIP), 1.50 WHIP, one save and a career-high 97 strikeouts in 100 innings pitched over 31 appearances (13 starts) for Texas in his fourth year in the big leagues in 2022. Hearn is expected to be a middle reliever for the Rangers this year, and he won't have much fantasy appeal whatsoever.

Ezequiel Duran, Taylor Hearn Optioned To Triple-A
3 years agoThe Texas Rangers optioned second baseman Ezequiel Duran and pitcher Taylor Hearn to Triple-A Round Rock on Saturday. Duran was in a platoon role following his call-up on June 4. He struggled recently, hitting .067 (1-for-15) over his last four games. Duran couldn't find any playing time in a loaded Rangers infield that included Corey Seager and Marcus Semien and was sent back down to pick up everyday at-bats. Hearn struggled after posting a 6.25 ERA and 1.75 WHIP with 54 punchouts over 59 innings. The 27-year-old was recently demoted to the bullpen over the weekend after starting the season in the rotation. Hearn will head to Triple-A Round Rock and could be a top candidate to get recalled later in the season. The Rangers will make corresponding moves on Sunday.
