Tarik Skubal Looking To Stifle Rival Guardians Thursday
1 year agoDetroit Tigers pitcher Tarik Skubal will look to silence the American League Central rival Cleveland Guardians in a road start Thursday night. The left-hander, who underwent flexor-tendon surgery last summer, has made just seven starts this season while working to a 4.18 ERA in that time. However, a look under the hood reveals Skubal also sports fantastic peripherals in the form of a 2.70 xERA, 2.09 FIP, 2.90 xFIP, 3.14 SIERA, and a career-best 23.1% K-BB rate across 32 1/3 innings of work. Skubal has also seen his ground-ball rate skyrocket to 54.7%, a figure that has helped him allow just one home run this season. He will have a solid opportunity to have his positive regression kick in Thursday against a Guardians offense that ranks dead-last with a .284 wOBA versus left-handed pitching this season.
