Tanner Scott Throws Live Batting Practice
2 years agoMiami Marlins relief pitcher Tanner Scott (biceps) is throwing live batting practice on Tuesday. If he comes out of the session well, Scott will make his Grapefruit League debut on Friday. The 28-year-old left-hander has been slightly behind the other pitchers in camp due to left biceps discomfort, but as long as he doesn't suffer any setbacks, he should be ready for Opening Day. The Marlins will roll into the regular season with a closer committee, so Scott could have some save opportunities alongside Dylan Floro, Matt Barnes and potentially A.J. Puk. Scott struck out 90 hitters in 62 2/3 innings, but he also had a bloated 15.9 percent walk rate. He had a career-high 20 saves in 2022. If you can live with the walks, Scott will be useful for K's and holds.
