Tanner Scott On The Trade Market
5 months agoUSA Today's Bob Nightengale writes that the best reliever on the trade market this summer will be Miami Marlins left-hander closer Tanner Scott. The Marlins are asking a considerable amount for Scott but believe it will be met by the July 30 trade deadline. The 29-year-old southpaw reliever has had a strong year for fantasy managers with a 1.50 ERA (3.69 FIP), a 1.14 WHIP, 12 saves, 38 strikeouts and 23 walks in 36 relief innings for the Fish this year, but if Scott is traded, he's not expected to take over the closer's role for a contending team to close out the second half of the season. He'd surely maintain relevance as a high-leverage reliever in holds leagues, though. The Yankees, Orioles and Phillies are three teams that are expressing interest in acquiring Scott for their bullpens.
