Tanner Scott Gets $2.825 Million From Marlins
2 years agoThe Miami Marlins and relief pitcher Tanner Scott avoided salary arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $2.825 million deal on Friday. Scott had a career-high 20 saves in his first season in Miami in 2022, but he also had a 4.31 ERA (3.67 FIP), 1.61 WHIP, 31.1 percent strikeout rate and didn't finish the regular season as the team's primary closer. Because of the way things ended last year in Miami's bullpen, Dylan Floro, not Scott, is expected to open the 2023 season as the team's primary closing option. It's bad news for Scott's fantasy appeal in drafts this spring. The 28-year-old reliever had one career save entering 2022 and has a 4.61 career ERA (3.91 FIP), 1.56 WHIP and 29.9 percent strikeout rate in six major-league seasons.
