Tanner Scott Earns Shaky Fifth Hold Of Season Monday
4 years agoBaltimore Orioles relief pitcher Tanner Scott managed to earn a hold in Monday's 4-2 win over the Yankees. He came on to pitch the eighth inning up by three, walked the first two hitters, recorded an out, then walked the bases loaded, and finally recorded a strikeout before being removed from the game. Cesar Valdez replaced him and allowed one of the inherited runners to score, but Austin Hays threw Aaron Judge out on the play, so the damage was limited. While his outing could have gone much worse, Scott has pitched pretty well this season, posting a 3.12 ERA with 10 walks and 11 strikeouts in 8 2/3 IP. Manager Brandon Hyde said after the game "I'm going to continue to throw him out there in big spots". Scott would only be a potential fantasy asset in saves/holds leagues, and his walk issues limit his fantasy upside even in those leagues.
