Tanner Scott Continues To Impress In Closer Role
1 year agoMiami Marlins left-handed reliever Tanner Scott picked up a massive five-out save on Sunday, closing the door on the Philadelphia Phillies in a 5-4 win. Scott was brought in with one out in the eighth and runners at second and third. He proceeded to strike out the next two batters and then worked around a hit batter and a walk in the ninth to get a huge win for the fish. The 29-year-old has been excellent all season, pitching to a 2.24 ERA and 1.04 WHIP with 92 strikeouts in 68 ⅓ IP, and certainly deserves this shot at the closer role. He now has the Marlins' last five saves and should continue to be a must-roster reliever down the stretch.
