5 months agoLos Angeles Kings winger Tanner Jeannot will begin a three-game suspension on Saturday against Columbus. He was handed the suspension for an illegal check to the head of Vancouver Canucks forward Brock Boeser in Thursday's 4-2 loss. Running into trouble isn't anything new for Jeannot, as he has amassed a league-high 36 penalty minutes this season. Scoring-wise, Jeannot has contributed only one goal and one assist in 15 outings. The Kings have summoned Samuel Helenius from the minors to take Jeannot's spot on the fourth line Saturday. Helenius has picked up three points (two goals, one assist) in eight AHL appearances this season. Jeannot will be eligible to return to action next Saturday against Detroit.

The gritty forward returned from a 12-game absence in Tuesday's matchup against Boston but suffered a new injury, which will keep him out for at least one contest. In 42 outings, Jeannot has mostly been anonymous offensively, logging six goals and 12 points. However, he leads the team with 164 hits, and only 10 skaters in the league have managed more. Alex Barre-Boulet is set to take over Jeannot's spot in the lineup on Thursday.

With Jeannot leading the way, the Lightning managed to come from behind twice to tie the game but ran out of juice eventually. Jeannot's day at the office also included a game-high four hits, one shot on goal, two penalty minutes, and a plus-one rating in 16:40 of action. The 26-year-old was a major disappointment in Tampa Bay last season after arriving from Nashville, and he should be eager to prove his worth in 2023-24. Jeannot collected his first points of the year Sunday and has also tallied two shots on goal and eight hits through the first three games.

He will carry a cap hit of $2.665 million through the 2024-25 campaign after avoiding arbitration. The Lightning will hope to see a bounce--back season from Jeannot in 2023-24. Last season he totaled only one goal and three assists in 20 games for the team after coming over in a trade with Nashville. The 26-year-old had a very solid 24-goal, 41-point campaign with 318 hits just two seasons ago, and Jeannot should be a good pick-up for fantasy managers if he can regain his form.
