Tampa Bay Rays Moving To A Four-Man Rotation, Yonny Chirinos Starts Sunday
7 years agoThe Tampa Bay Rays are going to move from their three-man starting pitcher rotation with two games where they handle it via a series of shorter-inning appearances to a four-man rotation with one bullpen game. The additional starting pitcher will be Yonny Chirinos. He had started the season with multiple scoreless appearances as he worked to build up his arm. He had a rough last outing but the team decided that they would stick with him. Chirinos was named the Rays 2017 minor league pitcher of the year, so he comes with some talent. The award is also notable for the fact he beat out Brent Honeywell. He will be a deep league option for depth as long as he remains in the rotation without falling off the cliff in terms of production.
