Surgery Not Recommended For Saquon Barkley
5 years agoNew York Giants head coach Pat Shurmur said that no surgery has been recommended for running back Saquon Barkley (ankle) for his high ankle sprain, and the head coach also said the team has no plans to put Barkley on Injured Reserve at the moment, according to a source. Shurmur isn't putting a timeline on Barkley's recovery, but it's believed he'll be out a minimum of four to eight weeks. The Giants are expected to use caution with Barkley in his recovery, but he could return after the team's Week 11 bye. Wayne Gallman is expected to take over as the lead running back and was a top waiver pickup this week. Fantasy owners that took Barkley with the first or second overall pick in fantasy drafts are devastated, and Barkley obviously won't help you all that much if he returns in Week 11 or later, but you must stash him for now. Gallman has low-end RB2/high-end RB3 appeal right away in Week 4 against the Redskins.
