Stuart Skinner Eager To Improve In 2023-24
2 years agoEdmonton Oilers goaltender Stuart Skinner hopes to do even better than last season when the 2023-24 campaign kicks off. He was named to the All-Star Game during his rookie campaign and finished second in the Calder Trophy voting after posting a 29-14-5 record with a 2.75 goals-against average and a .914 save percentage. "I know for my rookie year it seems everything went pretty good and pretty smoothly, but I learned a lot of lessons," Skinner told NHL.com. "I've got much, much better to bring next year, and hopefully, I'm going to do that my whole career. I know it was a good year, but I know I've got a lot better." Skinner's eagerness to improve likely stems from his playoff struggles. The 24-year-old saw his save percentage dip to .883 during the postseason and he couldn't save the Oilers from a second-round exit. Skinner will continue to battle with Jack Campbell for playing time in 2023-24.
