Struggles Continue For Michael Conforto
4 years agoNew York Mets outfielder Michael Conforto went just 1-for-4 with a double in the Mets' 4-3 loss to the Cubs on Thursday. Conforto continues to struggle at the plate and is hitting only .178/.315/.244 on the season with no home runs and three RBI. While the slow start is disconcerting, Conforto is coming off a 2020 campaign largely supported by underlying metrics in which he posted a .322/.412/.927 line with a career-high .927 OPS, nine home runs, and 31 RBI in 202 at-bats. Conforto should provide managers around 30 home runs and 90-100 RBI over the course of a full season hitting in the middle of the Mets lineup. Managers rostering Conforto should remain patient with the 28-year old. That said, it would be understandable for managers in shallow leagues to place Conforto on the bench while he works out his early-season struggles.
