Steven Matz Takes Loss On Quiet Night
6 years agoAlthough he was pounded for nine hits, New York Mets starter Steven Matz's fate came down to two mistakes Friday night in Milwaukee. Taking on the Brewers, the New York native allowed a solo home run in the first and a two-run jack in the fifth. Aside from the nine hits and three earned runs, Matz allowed a walk while striking out three and managing a hit at the plate. The 27-year-old has been steadily progressing since a putrid performance two weeks ago that saw him surrender eight runs without recording an out. His ERA now stands at 3.86 while his record is 3-2.
