Steven Matz Pitches Well on Sunday
6 years agoNew York Mets left-hander Steven Matz tossed another quality start on Sunday against the Washington Nationals. Matz hurled seven innings, allowing just one run on five hits to go along with seven strikeouts. Unfortunately, the Mets gave him no run support and the bullpen imploded for 14 runs in the final two innings in an eventual 15-0 loss. The southpaw made it two solid outings after a brief rough patch, and he lowered his earned run average to 4.36 on the season. Matz will toe the rubber against the San Francisco Giants in his next start.
