Steven Matz Allows Five Runs In No-Decision
4 years agoToronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Steven Matz gave up five runs over six innings to the Red Sox on Thursday as he worked a no-decision in the team's 8-7 loss. Despite not pitching overly well, he was actually in line for the win before Rafael Dolis blew a two-run lead in the ninth. Matz gave up a season-high 10 hits and issued a pair of free passes with four strikeouts as his ERA and WHIP rose to 4.69 and 1.38 respectively. The lefty shined in a few starts to begin the season, but his stats have normalized back to his career norms, making him mostly a streaming option moving forward. However, he won't be on the streaming radar in his next start versus the Yankees.
