Stephen Strasburg Labors Through Thursday Loss
7 years agoWashington Nationals starter Stephen Strasburg didn't exactly have the home opener he wanted. Over six frigid innings, the righty gave up four earned runs on five hits, struck out six and walked two. He gave up two home runs on the day, one to Yoenis Cespedes and the other to Michael Conforto making his season debut. In a lapse of judgement, Strasburg even balked in a run in the second inning. It was his first balk since 2013. The good news is that Strasburg was still hitting high-90s on his fastball and nothing is mechanically wrong with him. Sometimes good hitters simply have your number. He's still a reliable second fantasy starter that would be an ace on any staff that didn't have Max Scherzer ahead of him.
