Stephen Piscotty Placed On IL, Franklin Barreto Recalled
5 years agoThe Oakland Athletics have placed outfielder Stephen Piscotty on the 10-day IL with a right knee sprain and have recalled second base prospect, Franklin Barreto, to take his place. Piscotty suffered the injury sliding into second base on Saturday and was helped off the field ending his night prematurely with his return timetable unknown. Barreto has hit well at Triple-A this season sporting a .296 batting average with 12 homers and 13 stolen bases across 73 minor league games. The 23-year-old clubbed five long balls with the A's in 32 games last season but only hit .233 with an ugly 38.7% K-rate. It's unknown if he'll receive everyday at-bats with Jurickson Profar holding down his position, but he does possess a juicy power/speed combination. Fantasy managers shouldn't rush to the waiver wire, but his use should be monitored as he could provide some value in the second half if he stays on the roster.
