3 months agoStephan Jaeger has started the 2025 season strong with a T36 finish at The Sentry and a T3 finish at the Sony Open in Hawaii. Prior to these results, he struggled with consistency, missing the cut in four of his previous eight events. At the Farmers Insurance Open, Jaeger has made the cut in three of five appearances, including a T3 finish in 2024. Torrey Pines presents a challenge with 26.3% of approach shots coming from over 200 yards, an area where Jaeger ranked 121st in 2024. However, he remains one of the longest hitters off the tee, ranking 13th in total driving with an average distance of 310.3 yards -- good for 21st on tour. While his distance will be an asset this week, Jaeger's ranking of 120th in approach to the green last season makes him a risky option to round out fantasy lineups at his $7,800 price tag on DraftKings.--Dakota Legg - RotoBaller

2 months agoStephan Jaeger's results have varied to start the season, ranging from a T3 at the Sony Open to missing the cut at the Farmers Insurance Open. He now looks ahead to the Mexican Open, where he has recorded strong results with finishes of T15, T18, and most recently a T3 in 2024. At 7,456 yards, Vidanta Vallarta is a course that requires length off the tee and strong long-iron play. Jaeger is long enough off the tee, averaging 304.1 yards per drive, and ranks in the 84th percentile in greens in regulation from 200-plus yards, a distance that accounted for 43.3% of all approach shots at this event last year. While Jaeger isn't in his best form, competing against a weaker field should allow the talented German to find more consistency. Fantasy managers should consider playing him at his $9,600 price tag on DraftKings.--Dakota Legg - RotoBaller

2 months agoStephan Jaeger rode out a tough week at Pebble Beach. The German golfer weathered the storm and shot a 67 in the final round to crack the Top 40. Since his T-3rd at the Sony Open, Jaeger has had an uneven time. That included last month at Torrey Pines where he missed the cut at the Farmers Insurance Open. A 76 in Round 2 was common in the adverse and windy conditions. This week could feature heavy rains on Thursday into late Thursday night. Shifting winds on Friday could impact Jaeger again. The onshore push seemed to bother his shots in January. Jaeger ranks 24th in strokes gained to putting so once he gets on the green, the golfer could be a DFS value option. --Chris Wassel - RotoBaller

3 months agoStephan Jaeger has had an up-and-down start to the season with a T36 and a T3 in his first two events, followed by a missed cut at the Farmers Insurance Open. He now shifts his focus to Pebble Beach, a course he's played four times in his career. His results there have been less than impressive, with finishes of T43 (2018), missed cuts (2019, 2022), and a T71 in 2024. Given the short length of Pebble Beach, approach play will be key to success in this stacked field, but Jaeger ranked just 120th in strokes gained on approach last season. His proximity from the 100-150 yard range (where 37.6% of approach shots at Pebble Beach come from) is 22.7 feet, ranking him in the 53rd percentile. Although his price tag is an intriguing $6,700 on DraftKings, fantasy managers may want to pass on Jaeger this week.--Dakota Legg - RotoBaller

3 months agoStephan Jaeger has made a name for himself as one of the most volatile golfers on Tour. In his 18 starts since his first Tour victory at the Houston Open, the 35-year-old German has missed the cut six times and finishes inside of the top-25 five times. To close out the 2024 calendar year, he followed up his solo runner up finish at the Black Desert Championship with a missed cut the following week at the Shriners Children's Open. Jaeger also has spotty course history at Waialae Country Club and doesn't appear to be a solid course fit this year, as he enters the week ranking 58th off-the-tee, 74th on approach, and 77th in Bermuda putting over the last 36 rounds. Jaeger may offer fantasy managers upside at his $7,400 DraftKings salary, but a missed cut could certainly be in the cards as well.--Ryan Hickey
