Steelers Unlikely To Re-Sign JuJu Smith-Schuster
5 years agoThe Pittsburgh Steelers are unlikely to re-sign wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster after the 2020 season, in the opinion of The Athletic's Ed Bouchette. Injuries and poor quarterback play didn't help his cause in 2019, but Smith-Schuster had his worst season as a professional with 42 receptions for 552 yards and three touchdowns in 12 games. That came after a breakout 2018 season in which he made the Pro Bowl for recording a career-high 111 receptions for 1,426 yards and seven touchdowns. The jury remains out on whether he can be a true No. 1 receiver in the NFL, but getting quarterback Ben Roethlisberger back to full health is step No. 1 as he attempts to rebound in 2020. Fantasy owners surely won't be targeting him as a strong WR1 this fall.
