Steelers Expect Justin Fields To Be Active In Week 18
2 days agoPittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said on Monday that he expects quarterback Justin Fields (abdomen) to be active in the Week 18 regular-season finale on Saturday against the division-rival Cincinnati Bengals in a contest that has playoff implications for both teams. Fields has missed the last two games but apparently is feeling much better and should be available as starter Russell Wilson's backup this weekend. The 25-year-old former 11th overall pick by the Chicago Bears in 2021 out of Ohio State was Pittsburgh's starter for the first six games of the year while Wilson rehabbed a nagging calf injury. Since Wilson took over the starting gig under center in Week 7, Fields has attempted just one pass while carrying the football seven times for 58 yards (8.29 yards per carry) in four games. If Fields does return against Cincy, he probably won't be on the field much, if at all.
