Spencer Turnbull Away From Team Due To COVID Protocol
4 years agoDetroit Tigers starting pitcher Spencer Turnbull will be away from the team for a few days due to the league's COVID-19 protocols. According to Tigers manager A.J. Hinch, Turnbull didn't do anything wrong. It's merely protocol. Turnbull should open the year as one of the team's starting pitchers. He's had an underwhelming spring so far, pitching nine innings and posting a 5.00 ERA and 1.33 WHIP with nine strikeouts and four walks. Last year, however, he was one of the team's top pitchers, going 4-4 with a 3.97 ERA and 1.34 WHIP while averaging 8.1 K/9. He's a worthy late-round target for rotation depth in deep leagues and AL-only leagues, though he doesn't have as much upside as some of his teammates like Tarik Skubal and Casey Mize.
