4 years agoDetroit Tigers third baseman and top prospect Spencer Torkelson has had a rough go of it this spring. He's yet to record a hit over his first 16 plate appearances. He's currently 0-for-13 with three walks and eight strikeouts. The 21-year-old Torkelson was a bit of a long shot to make the team's opening day roster going into spring training. His struggles should cement his place in the minor league to start the year. Torkelson has tremendous upside. He showed both great power upside and phenomenal plate discipline during his time at Arizona State. Over 57 games at ASU in 2019, he slashed .351/.446/.707 with 23 home runs, 41 walks and 45 strikeouts. The Tigers may keep him in the minors for a year and bring him up for his debut in 2022.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBaller
