Spencer Strider Starts Thursday Versus Padres
2 years agoAtlanta Braves pitcher Spencer Strider will get the starting nod Thursday when the club hosts the visiting San Diego Padres. It should be a fun matchup between Strider and Padres starter Blake Snell while it's a stiff test for Strider coming off an electric rookie campaign. The right-hander burst onto the scene with a 2.67 ERA and 38.3% K% across 31 appearances (20 starts) spanning 131 2/3 innings of work in 2022. The 24-year-old averaged a whopping 98.1 mph on his four-seam fastball, a pitch he used 64.6% of the time a season ago. The Padres boast a stacked offense that sits in the middle of the pack on the young season but they have been one of the toughest groups to strike out as their 16.8% K% is the third-best mark in baseball.
