Spencer Steer Resting Versus Marlins
4 months agoCincinnati Reds corner infielder/outfielder Spencer Steer is sitting out on Wednesday against the hosting Miami Marlins. With Steer getting a breather on Wednesday, Santiago Espinal will draw into the lineup in left field and will bat ninth for the Reds against Marlins right-hander Valente Bellozo. The 26-year-old Steer could probably use a little bit of a mental break, as he's recorded just one hit in his last 22 at-bats in his last six games. The poor stretch has dropped his season slash line to .226/.314/.409 in 411 at-bats. Despite the low batting average, Steer has been relevant in most fantasy leagues in 2024 because of his power/speed combination with 15 long balls, 66 RBI and 18 stolen bases. Espinal has limited DFS appeal as a sleeper in the nine-hole. The 29-year-old Dominican has eight homers and eight stolen bases on the year in 222 at-bats for Cincy.
