1 year agoVancouver Canucks goaltender Spencer Martin was placed on waivers by the club on Thursday afternoon, the first day of waivers on the NHL calendar. The Canucks acquired goaltender Casey DeSmith from the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for Tanner Pearson last week, leaving Martin as the third goaltender on the club's depth chart. The team is certainly hoping Martin is claimed and they rid themselves of his $762,500 cap hit in the process. The 28-year-old has appeared in just 38 career NHL games, 29 of which came last year when he turned in a subpar 3.99 goals-against average and .871 save percentage while going 11-15-1.--Brenton Kemp
