4 years agoThe Philadelphia Phillies have called up pitcher Spencer Howard and infielder/outfielder Scott Kingery from the team's alternate site prior to Wednesday's game against the San Francisco Giants. In corresponding moves, second baseman Jean Segura (quad) was placed on the 10-day injured list and pitcher Ramon Rosso was optioned to the alternate site. Kingery should see a decent amount of playing time at second base with Segura sidelined and is worth roster consideration in deep leagues and NL only leagues. Howard, who was used exclusively as a starter in the minor leagues, will likely serve as a long reliever for now. Howard has struggled in his brief Major League exposure with a 6.04 ERA and 1.697 WHIP over 25.1 innings the last two years.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBaller
