Sonny Gray Throws Three Scoreless Innings In Rehab Start Saturday
3 years agoCincinnati Reds pitcher Sonny Gray (groin) allowed one hit and three walks while striking out four across three scoreless innings during Saturday's rehab appearance with Triple-A Louisville. He was unable to make his original start on Thursday due to back stiffness and had his start pushed back to Saturday. The 31-year-old was successful in his rehab appearance and is trending in the right direction towards a return. Gray will throw one more rehab start with Triple-A Louisville and could join the Reds sometime next week. Tony Santillan will continue to start for the Reds until Gray can return to the rotation. Santillan is tentatively scheduled to face the Padres and can be used as a streamer in deep-league formats. The Reds rookie right-hander owns a 3.29 ERA, 1.46 WHIP, and an impressive 10.5 K/9 across 13 2/3 innings in 2021.
