Sonny Gray Salvages Baltimore Series For Yankees
6 years agoHeading into Wednesday’s series finale at Camden Yards, the New York Yankees were hoping to avoid an embarrassing series loss to the Baltimore Orioles, and they sent perhaps their most inconsistent starters to the mound. Sonny Gray, however, delivered exactly the performance his club needed, firing six shutout innings and striking out eight in the process. The 28-year-old, who allowed only three hits and a walk, improved his record to 6-7, while his abysmal ERA now stands at 5.46. While the performance might be enough to get Gray’s owners excited, he’s been at his best against the lowly Orioles all season, earning a victory in each of his three starts against them. More will need to be seen from Gray to believe a turnaround is actually on the way.
