5 years agoPittsburgh Penguins center Sidney Crosby reinforced his superstardom in his return to the lineup on Tuesday, posting a goal and a trio of helpers as his team defeated the visiting Minnesota Wild 7-3. Despite having missed the past 28 games due to core muscle surgery, the Pens' captain looked like he had not missed a beat, also registering a plus-one rating and three shots in 17:53 of ice time in the contest. Even at 32-year-old, Crosby remains a top scorer in the NHL - as described by his 21 points (six goals, 15 assists) in 18 games in 2019-2020. For those that may have been hesitant, make sure to get Crosby active in lineups ahead of his tough matchup with the Bruins on Thursday.--Chase Davis - RotoBaller

3 weeks agoPittsburgh Penguins center Sidney Crosby (rest) is considered a game-time decision for Saturday's contest against the Washington Capitals. Before the international break, Crosby missed two contests. However, the 37-year-old was able to play in all four of Team Canada's contests. Crosby found the back of the net once and added four helpers en route to leading them to the championship. However, given the minor injury before the break and playing four games in the tournament, the Penguins may opt to give Crosby the day off on Saturday afternoon. In addition, center Evgeni Malkin (lower body) is expected to return to action, which would help bolster the Pittsburgh top six. If Crosby were to sit out, Malkin would take his spot on the top unit alongside Bryan Rust and Rickard Rakell.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

1 month agoPittsburgh Penguins center Sidney Crosby tallied three points as he led Team Canada to an overtime victory over Team Sweden on Wednesday evening. Crosby tallied his first point on the power-play to set up Nathan MacKinnon on the game's opening goal. Later in the second, Crosby would tally his second primary assist, this time on Mark Stone's goal to increase Canada's lead. Then, in overtime, Crosby would tally his third helper of the evening on Mitch Marner's game-winner. Crosby also logged one blocked shot and held a +1 rating in this contest. Before the tournament, Crosby was battling an upper body injury and was in danger of missing time. However, the future Hall of Famer looked dominant in his return. He will look to lead Canada to their next victory on Saturday evening against Team USA.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

1 month agoPittsburgh Penguins center Sidney Crosby (upper body) will play in Wednesday's 4 Nations Face-Off opener against Sweden. TSN's Pierre LeBrun reports that Crosby has confirmed he will suit up for Team Canada on Wednesday night. The veteran superstar has recovered from an upper-body injury, which sidelined him for Pittsburgh's final two games before the NHL took a break for the tournament. Crosby is expected to work with Nathan MacKinnon and Mark Stone on the second line. He will also link up with Canada's mouth-watering top power-play unit, which includes Connor McDavid and Cale Makar.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

1 month agoAccording to Chris Johnston of The Athletic, Pittsburgh Penguins center Sidney Crosby (upper body) has been practicing with Team Canada and is in a good position to return to action on Wednesday evening when they face Team Sweden. Before the international break, Crosby missed Pittsburgh's final two contests and was in danger of missing the international tournament. However, seeing him return to practice in full participation is a great sign for his status. Fantasy managers should continue to keep an eye on his availability leading up to Wednesday's game in case he faces a setback. Fantasy managers should expect Crosby to have a role in the top six of Canada's offense and would be a strong play in DFS formats. Before the injury, Crosby was riding a five-game point streak with Pittsburgh.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller
