5 months agoDuring Brickyard 400 qualifying at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Chase Elliott scored a starting position of third. This is the highest start position of Elliott's Cup career at the site and will be the fifth time he will start inside the Top 3 this season. In six previous starts at Indianapolis, Elliott has one top-10 finish, but he did lead 26 laps in his last appearance at the Indiana track. Through 21 races completed this season, Elliott is the regular season points leader with one win and 10 top-10 finishes, including last week's race at Pocono. In practice, Elliott ranked 11th in five consecutive lap averages and 16th in 10 consecutive lap averages. Regardless of his average practice speeds, with equipment from one of the field's top teams and overall consistency this year, Elliott is capable of scoring a top finish, but is best suited for tournament lineups due to his low Place Differential upside.--Sean Engel - RotoBaller
