Should DFS Players Roster Martin Truex Jr. For Darlington?
3 months agoJoe Gibbs Racing driver Martin Truex Jr. will start fifth in Sunday's Cookout Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway. This is the first time that Truex will start a race from the Top 5 at Darlington in September since he joined Joe Gibbs Racing in 2019. In 24 races at the site, Truex has two wins, 10 top-10 finishes, and 914 laps led (second-most of active drivers). Through 25 races so far in 2024, Truex has nine top-10 finishes and an average finish of 16.2. In practice for Sunday's race, Truex ranked 20th in overall lap averages while ranking in the Top 10 fastest of all drivers in 10, 15, 20, and 25 consecutive lap averages. Although Truex does not provide much upside from his starting position, his overall history at Darlington and top-notch equipment make him a driver worth having exposure to in some tournament lineups.
