11 months agoLegacy Motor Club driver John Hunter Nemechek will start 20th in this week's GEICO 500 at Talladega Superspeedway after qualifying. This will be the highest start position that Nemechek ever obtained at the Alabama track in his Cup career to date. In two previous races at Talladega, Nemechek has two top-10 finishes with positive Place Differential. In five races at Daytona and Talladega combined in his Cup career, Nemechek has five finishes of 11th or better. Through nine races so far this season, Nemechek has two top-10 finishes and racked up positive Place Differential five times. Considering his PD upside from his starting position and history at drafting tracks, look for Nemechek to finish in the Top 15 and compete for a top-10 finish. With his salary listed $6,000 and under on both DFS sites, fantasy players should not ignore Nemechek as one of the more favorable value picks of the week.--Sean Engel - RotoBaller

1 week agoJohn Hunter Nemechek of Legacy Motor Club obtained a starting position of 36th after qualifying for this week's Shriners Children's 500 at Phoenix Raceway. This is the lowest starting position of Nemechek's Cup career to date at Phoenix and the first time he will start outside of the top 30 at the site. In five starts at Phoenix, Nemechek's best finish is 25th, and he also has two finishes with positive Place Differential. In practice, Nemechek ranked 20th in overall lap averages while ranking as high as 31st in 25 consecutive lap averages. Nemechek's practice speeds were not impressive, and his Phoenix history also is not great. Still, his enormous upside from his starting position makes him worth consideration as a safe cash game play, especially for his cheap salary ($5,300).--Sean Engel - RotoBaller

2 weeks agoAfter a miserable 2024, John Hunter Nemechek is improbably one of only two drivers to earn top-10 finishes in the first two races this season, but those both came on drafting tracks that have little to do with the rest of the schedule, so his performance in previous years is probably more important when forecasting his performance at Austin. In last year's event, he was not much of a factor, starting 22nd and finishing 21st. This year, however, he has qualified 33rd and seems to be even slower, although he only qualified one position worse than his Legacy Motor Club teammate Erik Jones. Even though they both qualified so badly and are cheap, they have been so slow on non-drafting tracks of late that they are probably very negligible in terms of DFS value.--Sean Wrona - RotoBaller

3 weeks agoJohn Hunter Nemechek will start 22nd for this week's Ambetter Health 400 at Atlanta Motor Speedway. This will be the highest starting position of Nemechek's Cup career at the site since the track's reconfiguration in 2022. In two races since 2022 at Atlanta, Nemechek has two finishes with position place differential and a best finish of 21st. In last week's Daytona 500, Nemechek started the race in 18th and ended up in fifth place. Nemechek's DFS salary this week is one of the cheapest on both sites, and he offers adequate upside based on his starting position. Although his history at Atlanta is fine, the No. 42 Toyota driver is someone who makes for a decent option for all DFS formats for this week.--Sean Engel - RotoBaller

4 weeks agoJohn Hunter Nemechek's streak of good finishes at Daytona International Speedway continued this past weekend, as the LEGACY Motor Club driver notched his first-ever top-five finish in NASCAR Cup Series action, crossing the finish line in fifth on Sunday evening after avoiding the carnage throughout the race and on the last lap. Nemechek now has five straight finishes of 15th or better in his career at Daytona, as well as the best average finish (9.8) among active Cup Series drivers. This is a great start to the season for the driver of the No. 42 Toyota, as JHN is coming off of a 34th-place points finish last season.--Jordan McAbee
