12 months agoThe Chicago Cubs are interested in free-agent Japanese import Shota Imanaga. The club looks likely to lose Marcus Stroman from their rotation in free agency as they look to fill out their starting group as they are also interested in trading for Brewers ace Corbin Burnes. Imanaga, 30, worked to a 2.66 ERA with Yokohama of the Japanese League in 2023 as the left-hander was also part of Japan's World Baseball Classic triumph this past March. He has tossed a healthy 3.18 ERA across eight seasons in the NPB but has consistently posted ERAs south of that figure over the last number of seasons. The Cubs are also rumored to be heavily involved in Imanaga's World Baseball Classic teammate and two-time MLB MVP Shohei Ohtani.--Brenton Kemp
