Shohei Ohtani To Pitch On Normal Turn In Rotation This Year
4 years agoLos Angeles Angels outfielder/pitcher Shohei Ohtani will pitch every fifth day this year, barring a rest day. The Japanese right-hander was originally locked-in to pitch on a specific day, though the Angels plan to use him similarly to their other starters in a six-man rotation. Health-willing, Ohtani is looking to be a two-way player this season, something he hasn't done since 2018- he pitched to a 3.31 ERA while posting double-digit steals and homers that year. Early returns out of spring camp have been positive, as he crushed a home run over the batter's eye on Wednesday and hit triple digits on his heater multiple times during a simulated game. There's a fair amount of risk at his 182 ADP but real upside if he can stay on the field.
