Shohei Ohtani Out For The Season With Oblique Strain
1 year agoLos Angeles Angels designated hitter/starting pitcher Shohei Ohtani (oblique) has been placed on the 10-day injured list and will be out for the remainder of the regular season. The 29-year-old superstar was also diagnosed with a torn UCL in his right elbow last month but was still serving as the Angels' DH up until September 4, when he strained his oblique. He's now done for the regular season, and most likely, has played his last game as a member of the Los Angeles Angels. Ohtani will hit free agency for the first time this offseason and will have no shortage of bidders, despite the fact his elbow will require surgery at some point. Despite missing the final month of the regular season, he's still the odds-on favorite to take home his second AL MVP. He'll end the year with a .304/.412/.654 batting line to go along with 44 homers, 95 RBI, and 20 stolen bases over 599 plate appearances. As a pitcher, he put up a 10-5 record, 3.14 ERA, 1.06 WHIP, and 167:55 K/BB ratio over 132 innings (23 starts). Just ridiculous.
