Shohei Ohtani is Perfect Through Six Innings
7 years agoMaking his second start for the Angels, two-way phenom Shohei Ohtani has not allowed a base runner through the first six innings against the Athletics. Ohtani struck out Jake Smolinski for the third out of the sixth — his 11th strikeout of the game. He has now set the Angels franchise record for most strikeouts by a pitcher in his first home start, passing Rudy Gay who had 10 in 1965. The Angels are currently leading 5-0, and Matt Joyce, Marcus Semien and Jed Lowrie are due up for Oakland in the top of the seventh.
